Lately I've been thinking of writing a book strictly on MSBuild. My previous book Deploying .NET Applications has devoted about half of the book to the topic. But I feel that there is still a lot of material missing even from that text. When the book was published I thought that by this time there would be such a book, but there is not. Because of this need, I'm considering writing the book myself! Now I'd like to hear from you, do you think such a book would be useful? What content would you like to see covered in a book like this? You can either contact me through this website of by email at sayed [DOT] hashim [AT] NOSPAMgmail [DOT]com. All feedback is greatly appreciated.

Mr. Hashimi,

I concur with your thinking. I work with MSBuild as software developer here in LA, but am fairly new to the world of programming and MSBuild and have not been able to find a suitable text on the subject. Please write this book!

I would like to see this book. I have started working with MSBuild, and there is a definate lacking in material on the subject.

That is a fantastic idea. After reading your book, I thought about the same thing. We need an example based, real world solutions reference book on MsBuild which covers the new .NET 3.5 features. The only question is, when can we buy it?

Most definitely. I've read your book, unfortunately, like most technologies, once you get down to writing real world solutions a resource with the basics just doesn't cut it. We really need a resource that goes beyond the basics and digs deeper into the details of implementing more advanced custom tasks. I'm currently exploring the idea of rewriting our build process using MSBuild. However, because of the complexity in the process and the various tools that are currently used, I fear that doing so would mean implementing many custom tasks. With the current stock or very limited resources on the subject it could prove to be very difficult. Please write the book!
